Celebrate Edmonton Indie Bookstore Day in style! It’s happening April 26–27, and you won’t want to miss it. Sixteen incredible local bookstores are taking part in this two-day event. Start by grabbing your passport at any participating shop. Then collect stamps at each location you visit. The more stamps you get, the better your chance to win some amazing prizes—think gift cards, bookbinding services, and more.
This event is all about supporting local. When you visit these bookstores, you’re helping small businesses thrive. You might even stumble upon a new favourite spot. While you’re not required to buy something to get a stamp, we do encourage you to browse. Buy a book. Grab some merch. Share a photo online. Tell your friends. Every little bit of support matters.
Getting around just got easier too. Thanks to Edmonton Transit Service, Bookstore Buses will run on Saturday from 12pm to 5pm. Two chartered bus routes—one on the north side and one on the south side—will run every 30 minutes. They’ll connect at University LRT and Corona Station. It’s a fun, easy way to hit up multiple shops without the hassle of parking.
Prefer biking? Join the whirlwind sampler tour led by Paths for People. It’s a 3.5-hour guided bike ride to central bookstores only (no suburban stops). You’ll visit each shop for 10 minutes, cover 17 km of bike-friendly roads, and enjoy a relaxed pace with no big hills. Safety in numbers and serious bookish joy included.
Whether you’re a seasoned book collector or just want a fun weekend adventure, Indie Bookstore Day is for you. This is Bailey Books first year participating in this Edmonton Indie Bookstore Day, and we’re so excited. Come celebrate community, stories, and the joy of finding that perfect read. Let’s make it a weekend to remember.
